Quick verdict

The K-Ultra is 1Zpresso's all-rounder. It has a heptagonal K burr, an external ring with 100 clicks per rotation at 20 microns each, and a 35–40 g capacity. It suits people who brew pour-over most days and espresso sometimes, and want one hand grinder for both. Independent evidence is thin: the most detailed hands-on source we found only compares it in passing with the J-Ultra.

  • You brew pour-over most days and espresso some days.
  • You want a larger capacity, 35–40 g, for multi-cup batches.

Skip it if

  • You make mostly espresso and want the finest steps; see the J-Ultra.

1Zpresso also states the burr is rated for 100–200 kg of grinding (1Zpresso). That is a manufacturer figure, not a durability test.

Strengths and limitations

What stands out

  • Larger capacity: 35–40 g, enough for a Chemex batch.
  • External adjustment that is easy to read and change between methods.
  • Case, brush and blower included.

Limitations

  • 20 µm steps are coarser for espresso than the J-Ultra's 8 µm.
  • Thin independent evidence. CoffeeGeek chose the X-Ultra over it for its 2025 guide (CoffeeGeek). In its J-Ultra review, the K-Ultra made slightly cleaner pour-over (CoffeeGeek).
  • 700 g, heavy to pack for travel.

Alternatives

Our recommendation

I'd recommend the K-Ultra to pour-over-first brewers who want room for espresso and a larger hopper. For espresso-heavy routines, the J-Ultra is the better tool.
