Choosing by workflow
- Hopper grinders (Encore ESP, Smart Grinder Pro, Eureka Specialita) keep beans loaded and suit one coffee at a time. They stand taller: 330–389 mm as listed.
- Single-dose grinders (Opus 2, DF64, DF54, Ode Gen 2, Sculptor 064S) grind what you weigh in. Retention claims vary, and few are independently measured.
- Hand grinders take no counter space and suit lever espresso or travel. Budget roughly 30–45 seconds of cranking per dose, based on CoffeeGeek's timings.
