Quick verdict

A WDT tool (Weiss Distribution Technique) stirs ground coffee in the basket with fine needles to break up clumps before tamping. That matters with entry grinders: CoffeeGeek used WDT to get good espresso from both the Encore ESP and the Smart Grinder Pro. Normcore's V2.1 has 50 mm stainless needles, an aluminum body, spare needles and a magnetic stand. Normcore's page lists 0.25 mm needles, while the Amazon listing title says 0.23 mm.

Buy it if

Why it helps with entry grinders

In CoffeeGeek's reviews, the Encore ESP produced grounds that were "very clumpy coming out" (CoffeeGeek), and the Smart Grinder Pro needed WDT for its best results (CoffeeGeek). That shows WDT is useful with those grinders. It doesn't test this specific tool.
