Revision notes

The DF64 has gone through several revisions. Turin's current page sells Gen 2.7 and describes its main change as "a redesigned inner chute with ion generator probes" to reduce static (Turin). The Amazon listing we found from Turin Grinders is titled Gen 2.5, and another Amazon listing is sold under a "DF64 Coffee" brand name. Neither matched the revision and seller we researched, so we link Turin's page instead. Turin's site lists its US authorized retailers (Turin).

What independent testing found

CoffeeGeek's first look (Mark Prince, October 2, 2023) covered an earlier Gen 2 unit with DLC-coated burrs (CoffeeGeek). He found:

  • The plasma/ion generator in the chute reduced static a great deal.
  • Little retention in his use.
  • An all-metal build, with an aluminum adjustment collar.
  • Grinding faster than the Baratza Vario+ and Breville grinders he compared, slightly slower than the Sette 270Wi.
  • A particularly high-pitched sound under load.

He also flagged that the long-term durability of the ion generator was unknown. Gen 2.7 changes that chute design, so treat these findings as a guide, not a test of the current unit.
