A complete pour-over setup can fit in less counter space than a single espresso machine. The main pieces are a brewer, a kettle, a scale and a grinder, and some of them can live in a cupboard between uses.

Smallest-footprint picks

  • Least technique: the Clever Dripper uses #4 filters from the grocery store.
  • Most compact kit: the AeroPress, which fits mugs with a 2 5/8 to 3 3/4 in inner diameter.
  • Two to three mugs: the Chemex 6-cup doubles as the carafe.

Kettle choice
